A PIVOTAL MOMENT
18 Year Old
The iconic Laphroaig 18-Year-Old Islay Single Malt is back by popular demand. This is a bold whisky paying homage to over two centuries of master distillers and blenders who made Laphroaig what it is today – a rich and deeply layered character.
A much-loved whisky
Matured in ex-Bourbon American oak barrels, this single malt unites the iconic smoky flavour of Laphroaig with notes of intense vanilla and sweet ripe fruits. Together with signature notes of woody peat smoke coming through on the finish, this 18-Year-Old is the perfect way to make memories.
Teddy Joseph, Global Brand Ambassador at Laphroaig, said: “The Laphroaig 18-Year-Old was a much-loved whisky, and so after nearly ten years we’re excited to bring back this age statement.
Friends can expect to enjoy Laphroaig’s iconic sweet smokiness, a manifestation of our boldness of spirit, as well as freshly cut leather and sunbaked seaweed on the nose and a fruity yet spicy blend of orange, honey, ginger and tobacco on the palate.”
The Distillery and its Blenders
Laphroaig is one of the few distilleries that still uses a traditional malting floor, and this is where our 18-Year-Old starts its life. Beginning with malted barley, gently dried and infused by the smoke from our cold smoking process in our ancient peat kilns. Then combined with the crisp waters of the Kilbride Stream before being distilled.
Laphroaig has been dividing opinions since 1845, when Donald and Alexander Johnston first opened their distillery on the Isle of Islay. Its unique smoky character comes from the island's peat. Rich in moss, lichen and heather, this peat is unlike anything found on the Scottish mainland. Good whisky needs good water, and the distillery has its own supply in the Kilbride stream which flows through the peat beds. It also needs experience, with two centuries of craftsmanship in hand each expression of Laphroaig is a bold statement.
